Today Nvidia introduced the Quadro FX 3600M professional GPU for notebook workstations. This new graphics solution defines a new level of graphics performance and advanced visual computing for designers, engineers, and scientists who demand the functionality of a desktop workstation on a notebook platform.
It delivers a uniform feature set, which include Shader Model 4.0, CUDA technology and GPU computing for visualization. Professionals working with large datasets, models, and images in markets such as computer-aided design (CAD), digital content creation (DCC), imaging, computing, and the sciences, are now unchained from their desktop workstations with notebook solutions that feature the latest Quadro professional graphics architecture.
Dell now offers the option to select Penryn CPUs in the Inspiron 1420 & Inspiron 1720 models. The 1420 can handle up to Core 2 Duo T8300 (2.4GHz/800Mhz FSB/3MB cache) whereas the 1720 features option for both - T8300 & T9300 (2.5GHz/800Mhz FSB/6MB cache) Penryn processors.
The T8300 is a $225 upgrade on the Inspiron 1420 (base config of $699). Similarly, on the $849 Inspiron 1720 - T8300 and T9300 option is available for additional $225 & $350 respectively. It's interesting to note that Inspiron 1525 range hasn't been updated with an option for Penryn.
Alienware is now equipping the Area-51 m15x notebook computer with the new 45nm Intel Core 2 Extreme X9000 processor working at 2.8GHz. This makes the Area-51 m15x, released earlier this year, the first and only 15.4-inch notebook to feature this unique and powerful processor.
Intel’s new 45nm technology infused with Hafnium technology, improved thermal management, more transistors, and Intel HD Boost allows the Intel Core 2 Extreme X9000 to deliver an increase in executable instructions with less strain on the CPU. The processor features 6MB of shared L2 cache and an 800MHz front side bus so users can do even more on their Area-51 m15x notebooks. Couple all that rough power with NVIDIA GeForce 8800M GTX 512MB GPU, up to 4GB of DDR2 memory and optional 64GB SSD drive and you'll get quite the idea of Area-51 m15x.
HP's upcoming UMPC, the 2133, photos have been leaked to Engadget. The HP Compaq 2133 features 8.9" scratch resistant 1366x766 (WXGA) display, ExpressCard/54 slot, wireless LAN, integrated webcam, and optional SSD running Windows Vista or Linux.
