HP announced two new mobile workstations - 8510w and 8710w

HP 8510w and 8710wHP officially announced two new Santa Rosa based mobile workstations in Compaq series which were leaked about two months back.
 
The 15.4" 8510w, priced $2600 features Core 2 Duo T7100/T7300T7500/T7700 processor, up to 4GB RAM, 120GB 7200 rpm hard drive, 1920 x 1200 resolution, Nvidia Quadro FX 570M graphics card with 256MB memory or ATI Mobility FireGL V5600 graphics (256MB), dual layer DVD burner or Blu-Ray, 802.11a/b/g/n wireless, Bluetooth, fingerprint reader, and Vista.

The 17" 8710w, priced $2500 comes with similar specifications except Nvidia Quadro FX 1600M graphics which now utilizes up to 512MB of dedicated video memory.
 
Asus A8Sr Offers World's First ATI Mobility Radeon HD240

Asus A8SrAsustek has unveiled Asus A8Sr - 14.1" widescreen laptop, claimed to be the world’s first notebook to utilize DirectX 10-compatible ATI Mobility Radeon HD2400 video card. The Mobility Radeon HD2400 will boost graphical performance, and utilize ATI's HyperMemory memory management technology to deliver enhanced 'performance-per-watt' operations. It will also offer Certified for Windows Vista 3D graphics that supports the visually stunning Windows Aero user interface. Together with DirectX 10 support, the A8Sr deliver smooth and professional performance with current and future 3D-intensive applications and games.
 

Asus A8Sr is based on Intel “Santa Rosa” mobile platform with PM965 chipset and Intel Core 2 Duo processor (T7500/T7300/T7100).

 

There is no information on notebook’s screen resolution. The similar A8Sc model powered by NVIDIA’s graphics comes with 14″ WXGA (1280×800) or WXGA+ (1440×900) display. Asustek’s press release also doesn’t mention system memory, hard drive, and optical drive options in the A8Sr.

HP Compaq 2510p Ultra-Portable Available

HP Compaq 2510pHP Compaq 2510p, the Hewlett-Packard’s recently announced ultra-portable business notebook is now available for purchase.
 

Along with 12.1", 1280×800 widescreen display with LED backlight and ambient light sensor, HP Compaq 2510p features Intel Core 2 Duo Ultra Low Voltage processor and Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 incorporated in GM965 chipset. The 2510p supports up to 2GB of main DDR2 memory and comes with 1.8" SMART PATA hard drive at 4200rpm, providing up to 100GB of data storage capacity. This ultra-portable has built in optical drive, with a choice of combo drive or DVD burner.

 

HP Compaq 2510p has a variety of wireless connectivity options: integrated HP ev2200 1xEV-DO Broadband Wireless Module; integrated HP hs2300 HSDPA Broadband Wireless Module; Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN (with 802.11n draft wireless capability); Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AG; Integrated Broadcom 4311AG WiFi Adapter; and HP Integrated Module with Bluetooth 2.0 Wireless Technology. It also has Gigabit Ethernet and a 56k modem.

 

HP Compaq 2510p provides PCMCIA card slot, secure digital slot, two USB ports, Firewire, external VGA monitor output, a fingerprint reader and TPM 1.2 module for enhanced security.

 

The 2510p’s weight starts at 2.9 lbs. The currently offered system configurations come with 32-bit or 64-bit Windows Vista Business preloaded, but the product specification say there are also Vista Home Basic 32, Windows XP Professional, and FreeDOS options.

 

HP Compaq 2510p starts at $1,549 and is available via HP Compaq online store.

 
Lenovo Updates ThinkPad T61 with UWB and Quadro FX 570M

Lenovo T61pLenovo has unveiled its highest performing notebook PC - the ThinkPad T61p 15.4" widescreen mobile workstation.

"The ThinkPad T61p raises the bar on performance with Lenovo’s Ultra Connect II wireless design helping improve WWAN and WLAN 802.11n performance, new NVIDIA Quadro FX 57OM graphics certified to the open GL graphics GPU standard, Intel Centrino Pro mobile technology and long battery life with more control via Battery Stretch. Users can even opt for next-generation wireless capabilities with Ultra-Wideband. With Lenovo’s new cooling system, the notebook runs three decibels quieter over previous models and up to 10 percent cooler even under the most intensive tasks. Tops for security, the notebook offers optional port disablement, 32-byte password protection, an integrated fingerprint reader and full disk encryption" Lenovo’s official press release says.

The other features of the T61p should be similar to those in select 15.4" T61 models with Mobile Intel PM965 Express Chipset and dedicated graphics. These Intel "Santa Rosa" platform-based Lenovo ThinkPad notebooks have, the latest Core 2 Duo processor, up to 4GB of system memory, up to 100GB hard drive, and a DVD burner, as well as a Gigabit Ethernet, a modem, a Bluetooth, a PC Card slot, an ExpressCard/54, and three USB ports.
