Today Acer officially introduced their new low-cost, mini notebook called the Aspire One. Acer's Aspire One will come in the 8.9" form factor and will be powered by Intel's Atom processor.
The display on the Atom-powered Aspire One is 8.9" CrystalBrite LED backlit display with a resolution of 1024x600. Other features include 512MB or 1GB RAM, 8GB NAND Flash module or 80GB internal HDD, a 5-in-1 memory card reader, webcam and 802.11b/g WiFi but in future it will offer 3G support for mobile broadband.
Just like other low-cost notebooks, Aspire One will also feature some user friendly Linux OS. The pre-installed software on Aspire One would be separated by functions and presented in four distinct areas on the screen – Connect, Works, Fun and Files. Some models of Aspire One will come pre-installed with Windows XP Home.
Aspire One will be available in four color options - sapphire blue, seashell white, golden brown and coral pink.
The 2 pound Acer Aspire One measures 9.8" x 6.7" x 1.14" and the claimed battery life is nearly 6 hours.
Acer will make available the Aspire One in the U.S by early Q3 starting at $379.
